About Us
FlightSimWeekend (also known as FSWeekend) is the world’s largest dedicated flight simulation event. Held annually in the Netherlands, the event serves as the ultimate physical gathering for the global flight simulation community, bringing together hardware manufacturers, software developers, virtual airlines, and thousands of passionate desktop pilots from all over the world.
What started in 1991 as a small group of enthusiasts flying together in an Amsterdam living room has evolved over three decades into a world-class international convention. Under its current leadership, FlightSimWeekend has transitioned into a highly professional, English-first global exhibition, hosting major industry announcements, exclusive product reveals, and hands-on simulator experiences.
At FlightSimWeekend, the virtual aviation community comes alive.

FlightSimWeekend 2027: A New Era
For over twenty years, FlightSimWeekend was famously hosted at the Aviodrome Aviation Museum in Lelystad. However, following massive growth since 2024 and a record-breaking turnout of nearly 5,000 visitors in 2026, the event is taking its next evolutionary leap.
In April 2027, FlightSimWeekend will debut at its brand-new home: Expo Houten in the Utrecht region. This transition represents a major professionalisation of the event. With modern, blank-canvas exhibition halls, dedicated power and network infrastructures dropped directly from the ceilings, and massive ground-level doors for heavy-duty simulator rigs, the new venue allows the event to scale without limits.
By moving to Expo Houten, FlightSimWeekend is providing a world-class platform where the flight simulation industry and grassroots community can connect, showcase, and innovate comfortably under one roof.
Core Pillars of the Event
The Exhibition Floor
The heart of FlightSimWeekend is a sprawling, high-energy exhibition. Unlike general gaming conventions, FlightSimWeekend is 100% focused on (aviation) simulation. The show floor brings together the industry’s leading hardware innovators showing off high-torque force-feedback gear, yoke systems, and motion platforms, alongside world-renowned software developers showcasing their latest aircraft and scenery add-ons.
The Community & Virtual Airlines
FlightSimWeekend has never forgotten its roots. A massive portion of the show floor is dedicated entirely to the grassroots community. From local flight simulation clubs to massive global Virtual Airlines (VAs) and highly complex, home-built cockpits, the event gives hobbyists and freeware creators a professional stage to share their passion, exchange knowledge, and recruit new pilots.
The FSElite Stage
The FSElite Stage (hosted by renowned flight simulation media outlet FSElite) is the central hub for industry announcements, developer panels, and community discussions. Throughout the weekend, key figures from the simulation world take the stage to reveal upcoming projects, discuss the future of flight simulation physics, and host live Q&As with both the physical audience and thousands of viewers tuning in via the official global livestream.
The Captain’s Dinner & Flight Sim Awards
FlightSimWeekend is more than a trade show, it is a social summit. On Friday evening before the show floor opens, FlightSimWeekend hosts the exclusive Captain’s Dinner & Flight Sim Awards Ceremony in collaboration with industry media partners FSElite, Threshold and Cruiselevel.de. This premium networking event brings together exhibitors, key media partners, and VIPs to celebrate outstanding achievements within the industry and foster new international collaborations in a relaxed, high-end setting.
